In this work, the polystyrene‐b‐poly(ethylene oxide) (PS‐b‐PEO) block copolymers with a trithiocarbonate group between the blocks were prepared by polymerization of styrene in the presence of a trithiocarbonate reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agent connected with PEO. Decomposition of the trithiocarbonate group by UV irradiation was investigated in three different types of solvent: tetrahydrofuran (THF, common solvent for both blocks), cyclohexane/dioxane mixture (selective solvent for the PS block) and N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF)/ethanol mixture (selective solvent for the PEO block). It is found that cleavage of the block copolymers can take place in all these three solvents and the cleavage ratio ranges from 76 to 86%. The micellar morphologies in selective solvents before and after cleavage were examined. It is observed that the size of the micelles is reduced after cleavage and sometimes aggregation of the micelles occurs due to removal of the corona of micelles. Dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, DDBSA, was chosen as a new rate‐accelerating additive for 2,2,6,6,‐teramethyl‐1‐piperidinyloxy (TEMPO)‐mediated stable free radical polymerization of n‐butyl acrylate (n‐BA) monomers with 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN). It was found that the number‐average molecular weight of polymers could reach about ten thousand with a narrow polydispersity index (PDI) of 1.4 in a few minutes, which was faster than other systems reported previously. But, at higher conversion, the molecular weight distribution of polymers became broad, and a bimodal distribution occurred. The macro‐initiators isolated from the former polymers with narrow PDI could be extended by polymerization with monomers by the addition of DDBSA. Furthermore, a proposed kinetic model demonstrated that the decay of the concentration of DDBSA would reduce the living polymer concentration and retard the growth of the polymers, which could be further propagated by the supplement of DDBSA. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A procedure for reanalysis of various structures subjected to various topological modifications is presented. The procedure is based on the results of a single exact analysis and the factorization of the stiffness matrix of initial structures. It is suitable for the case of addition of joints, where the number of the degrees of freedom is increased. The method deals with the stiffness matrix of structures directly, so it can be used with a general finite element system. It is shown that the proposed approximation method is most effective in terms of accuracy, efficiency, and ease of implementation.  相似文献

Discrete and symmetric three-dimensional(3D)DNA nanocages have been revoked as excellent candidates for various applications,such as guest component encapsulation and organization(e.g.dye molecules,proteins,inorganic nanoparticles,etc.)to construct new materials and devices.To date,a large variety of DNA nanocages has been synthesized through assembling small individual DNA motifs into predesigned structures in a bottom-up fashion.Most of them rely on the assembly using multiple copies of single type of motifs and a few sophisticated nanostructures have been engineered by co-assembling multi-types of DNA tiles simultaneously.However,the availability of complex DNA nanocages is still limited.Herein,we demonstrate that highly symmetric DNA nanocages consisted of binary DNA point-star motifs can be easily assembled by deliberately engineering the sticky-end interaction between the component building blocks.As such,DNA nanocages with new geometries,including elongated tetrahedron(E-TET),rhombic dodecahedron(R-DOD),and rhombic triacontahedron(R-TRI)are successfully synthesized.Moreover,their design principle,assembly process,and structural features are revealed by polyacryalmide gel electrophoresis(PAGE),atomic force microscope(AFM)imaging,and cryogenic transmission electron microscope imaging(cryo-TEM)associated with single particle reconstruction.  相似文献

A series of multi-branched dithienylpyrrole (SNS) monomers with rigid phenyl (PhSNS) and biphenyl rings (BPhSNS) as bridges were designed and synthesized, and were fabricated to form cross-linked polymers (pPhSNS, pBPhSNS) by electrochemical polymerization. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) results showed that PhSNS and BPhSNS exhibited similar oxidative properties except for one new higher-potential oxidative peak appearing in the curves of PhSNS. Theoretical calculations indicated that it should be attributed to the different steric configuration between the two dithienylpyrrole (SNS) units in PhSNS. One SNS unit possessed a larger twist angle (40.2°) between thiophene and pyrrole rings than the other one (21.2°), which indicated that PhSNS possessed a relatively larger energy gap (~0.4 eV) between HOMO-1 and HOMO than BPhSNS, for which HOMO and HOMO-1 levels were of almost the same energy. However, both PhSNS and BPhSNS showed similar onset oxidation potentials. The CV curves of pPhSNS and pBPhSNS showed that they presented similar oxidative properties, which enabled their corresponding electrochemical polymers to exhibit similar electrochromic properties. The UV-vis spectra of the corresponding polymers showed that both pPhSNS and pBPhSNS possessed similar optical absorption and similar multicolor switching between yellow (-0.8 V), greyish-green (0.9 V) and gray (1.1 V) colors. Besides, pPhSNS and pBPhSNS showed fast switching times of 0.57 s and 0.93 s at 1100 nm, respectively and reasonable contrasts of 46% and 31% at 1100 nm, respectively. These investigations may help understand the relationship between structural configuration and the electrochemistry/electrochromic properties for polymer electrochromic (PEC) materials research.  相似文献

Large separation of magnetic levels and slow relaxation in metal complexes are desirable properties of single-molecule magnets (SMMs). Spin-phonon coupling (interactions of magnetic levels with phonons) is ubiquitous, leading to magnetic relaxation and loss of memory in SMMs and quantum coherence in qubits. Direct observation of magnetic transitions and spin-phonon coupling in molecules is challenging. We have found that far-IR magnetic spectra (FIRMS) of Co(PPh3)2X2 ( Co-X ; X=Cl, Br, I) reveal rarely observed spin-phonon coupling as avoided crossings between magnetic and u-symmetry phonon transitions. Inelastic neutron scattering (INS) gives phonon spectra. Calculations using VASP and phonopy programs gave phonon symmetries and movies. Magnetic transitions among zero-field split (ZFS) levels of the S=3/2 electronic ground state were probed by INS, high-frequency and -field EPR (HFEPR), FIRMS, and frequency-domain FT terahertz EPR (FD-FT THz-EPR), giving magnetic excitation spectra and determining ZFS parameters (D, E) and g values. Ligand-field theory (LFT) was used to analyze earlier electronic absorption spectra and give calculated ZFS parameters matching those from the experiments. DFT calculations also gave spin densities in Co-X , showing that the larger Co(II) spin density in a molecule, the larger its ZFS magnitude. The current work reveals dynamics of magnetic and phonon excitations in SMMs. Studies of such couplings in the future would help to understand how spin-phonon coupling may lead to magnetic relaxation and develop guidance to control such coupling.  相似文献
